Grammar: PARTS OF SPEECH

Definition: When words are classified according to what work they do as small parts of a whole sentence, they are called parts of speech.

The parts of speech are eight in number:

1. Noun.
2. Pronoun.
3. Adjective.
4. Verb.
5. Adverb.
6. Preposition.
7. Conjunction.
8. Interjection.

Good, Brave, Nice, Fat etc.

Verb
Verb is a word that expresses some action.
Be, Do, Go etc.

Adverb
An Adverb is a word used to add something to the meaning of a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.
Swiftly, Well, correctly etc.
6.
Preposition
Preposition is a word placed before a noun or a pronoun to show its relation to some other word in the sentence.
At, To, By, With, From etc.
7.
Conjunction
Conjunction is a word used to join two or more sentences.
But, As, If, Unless, Till etc.
8.
Interjection
An Interjection is a word which expresses some strong and sudden feeling or emotion.
Fie, Hurrah, Hush etc.
